Xiaomi 18 Pro Series: Specs, Price, and Release Details

Xiaomi didn’t wait around. Just hours after Qualcomm introduced its latest flagship processors, Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max in China. Both phones are already claiming a “first” in the industry.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro is the first commercially available smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max goes a step further. It’s the first phone to use the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.

That’s a fast turnaround from chip announcement to actual retail availability. It puts Xiaomi ahead of most competitors who typically take months to ship devices with a newly announced Snapdragon chip.

Bigger Batteries and Sharper Displays

Both phones bring noticeably larger batteries compared to their predecessors.

• The Xiaomi 18 Pro has a 7,000mAh battery. That’s 11% larger than last year’s model.
• The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max packs an 8,500mAh battery. That’s a 13% increase.

Charging speeds stay strong across both models. You get 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 27W reverse wireless charging.

On the display side, the Xiaomi 18 Pro uses a 6.4-inch LTPO AMOLED screen. The 18 Pro Max steps up to a 6.9-inch panel. Both offer 2K resolution, a variable 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness up to 4,000 nits. Xiaomi protects both screens with Dragon Crystal Glass 3.

A Privacy Feature Built Into the Hardware

This is where things get interesting. Both phones introduce a hardware-level privacy display. It’s designed to stop people from viewing your screen from an angle, like someone sitting next to you on a bus or train.

The feature supports location-based activation. It can block notifications, floating windows, and split-screen content from side viewing. You can turn it on through a dedicated AI button on the left side of the phone.

The Rear Display Gets Smarter

Xiaomi kept the rear display from its predecessor, but expanded what you can actually do with it.

Through the Xiao AI assistant, users can now create custom rear-screen mini apps. Xiaomi showed off a few examples during the launch, including a drinking-water reminder, an egg-cooking timer, and a recipe recommendation tool.

The rear display also works as:

• A screen for custom AI wallpapers and widgets
• A quick way to access Xiao AI

Camera Specs Worth Paying Attention To

Both phones share the same triple rear-camera system:

• 200MP main camera with a Light Hunter 960 sensor (1/1.28-inch), 23mm equivalent
• 200MP periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.56-inch sensor, offering 3.2x optical zoom
• 50MP ultrawide camera with a 102-degree field of view

Having two 200MP sensors on one phone, one for the main shot and one for zoom, is a fairly aggressive camera setup even by 2026 flagship standards.

Colors, Durability, and Configurations

Both the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max come in black, white, pink, and blue. Xiaomi is also releasing a special red edition with transparent elements on the back panel, for anyone who wants their phone to look a little different from everyone else’s.

Both phones carry an IP69 rating, meaning they can handle dust and high-pressure water exposure, not just splashes.
